Identity, Political Representation & Policy Priorities

Why?

Our research was undertaken to shed light on the British Indian Experience: Identity, Political Representation & Policy Priorities. British Indians are the UK’s largest ethnic minority who have succeeded as individuals but as a collective are often quiet.

How?

This report examines how the community views itself and what its political and policy needs are. The research follows the ethical standards set out by the University of Oxford and is partly funded by the University’s Linacre College.

Who?

The research was not only demanded by policy-makers but many members of our community. The intended audience for this report is for all whom are interested, media, influencers, and especially policy-makers and community leaders. For a deeper analysis on any of the topics mentioned, please do get in touch.

Impact

We presented this work to Parliament and to No. 10. We outlined our community's policy priorities, with a focus on COP-26 and Healthcare. Subsequently, we are conducting further research relating to British Indians and climate change. Lastly, our preliminary findings on discrimination garnered much attention.
