Why?
Given the demand to understand ethnic minority health disparities, this report was commissioned by Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health Trust NHS Foundation. This information contributed to a new National Competency Framework and training for mental healthcare professionals. The initial report was also followed by a workshop with the Muslim community in Essex.
How?
Our research provides insights for the NHS on how to improve mental health services for the British Indian community. Although it was designed whilst working with other communities, so it can be used as a guide beyond the British Indian community.
Who?
This project was led by the 1928's Kiran Kaur Manku, in collaboration with Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health (BSMH) Patient and Carers Race Equality Framework (PCREF).
